Why test? The data generated by testing enables you to train with a degree of precision that is not otherwise possible. Your training becomes more effective by enabling you to target and train the energy systems specific to the demands of your event. 

If you have invested in a power meter, or are considering purchasing one, undertaking a Functional Threshold Power (FTP) test is the starting point of your training revolution.

If you don't have a power meter, undertaking a Lactate Threshold Heart Rate (LTHR) test will determine your heart rate training zones and enable you to use your heart rate monitor more accurately.

Follow up testing can be used to measure your improvement, identify your strengths and weaknesses and further refine your training.
